Tournament Guidelines
All GW FAQs released on or before the event will be used for this event. We use GW dataslates/FAQs — if there is a contradiction please contact the TO to explain which version of the rule is in use. At the event any decision or ruling made by the TO or judge is final and penalties may be applied for breaking the rules, not knowing your model's rules, or arguing with a TO.
Army selection:
- Each player's army should be Battleforged in accordance with the GT rules for Strike Force missions, i.e. cost no more than 2000 points.
- You may select your army from datasheets found in any codex released two weeks prior to the date of the event.
- Points updates and dataslates can be included up to one week prior to the event.
- Forgeworld rules may be used — you must have all relevant rules and FAQs for your FW models.
- Forgeworld Beta Rules are NOT allowed.
List submission & checking:
- Lists should be submitted by midnight of the 2 days prior to the date of the event.
- Any list not submitted will receive a yellow card and a 10 point penalty per game.
- If the list is late you will incur a point penalty based on the length of time of lateness.
- Any lists that need changes will be given 24 hours to make amends before penalty points will incur.
Missions & gaming: missions for each round are found in our Terrain and Mission pack. Please log your score on BCP after your game concludes.
Event FAQs:
Miniature Validity
There is no painting requirement at our RTTs. For GT events, armies should meet minimum battle ready level.
Marine chapters, Guard regiments, craftworlds etc. — it doesn't matter what colour you paint your models, as long as your army list clearly states which chapter trait/regiment etc. each detachment is using.
Proxies & conversions: proxies and count-as models are not allowed. Conversions must be equipped with the correct weapons and be clearly identifiable — please get pre-approval by emailing us before the event.
Third party stand-ins & 3D printing: alternative and 3D printed models are permitted provided they are clearly representative of the unit, of a similar size, and equipped appropriately. Models that do not comply may be penalised and removed from play.
Award Breakdown
Our awards are designed to reward the effort invested in all elements of the 40k hobby. As such, it is possible for players of all abilities to win something.
| Award | Criteria |
|---|---|
| Da Biggest | The highest ranked player |
| Runner Up | The second highest ranked player |
| Third Place | The third highest ranked player |
| Da Spanner | The lowest ranked player |
| Best Painted | The player with the best painted army |
| Best Humi's | The player with the highest average sporting votes and exceptional comments |
| Best In Faction | The players with the highest finish within their faction |
Best Painted: the player with the best painted army, judged by LoW members (at selected events). The army must be the entrant's own work.
Best Humi's: the player with the highest average sporting votes and exceptional comments. At the end of each game players should fill out our digital sportsmanship form — a QR code will be on each table.
Streaming & Photography
We will take pictures and videos during the event. If you do not wish to be in the pictures please contact us directly and we will do our utmost to accommodate you.
Some of our events are streamed. If you are placed on a stream table and you do not wish to have a microphone on, please speak to the TO and we will swap your table. During the later rounds we will put the top players on the stream table, which will require you to be wearing a microphone.
Terrain
What terrain do you have?
You'll play on a Lords of Waaagh battle mat and a tournament-ready battlefield. The terrain for your games will be on each table for you to arrange — please see our Terrain and Mission diagram for how to arrange terrain and which missions to play. More info on each piece can be found in the Terrain Key below. If you are missing or cannot locate a piece of terrain, please alert a TO.

Pairings & Timing
Pairings & rankings: the first round will be paired randomly. The rest of the rounds will have Swiss-style pairings, where you will be paired against someone with a similar score.
- For round 2 players will be paired by the following metrics: Wins > Random.
- For round 4 onwards players will be paired by the following metrics: Wins > Battle points.
- Players will be ranked by the following metrics: Win/Loss > Total Score > Strength of Schedule.
- Rankings will be uploaded to the Northern Tournament Circuit (NTC) as well as UKTC and ITC.
- If your opponent has not arrived when the round starts, please wait at your table for 15 minutes. If your opponent has still not arrived after 15 minutes, please report to the judges desk where you will be manually repaired against another player who is as close as possible to you in tournament points.
- If at any point you need to drop out of the tournament, please let a judge know or email us.
Missing a battle: if a player misses a game, we will have a stand-in ready to play the game. If a player notifies us that they will be late we will set up a chess clock and deduct the time that player was late from their time and give the opponent their full allotted time.
Chess clocks: chess clocks may be used; if your opponent does not agree to a chess clock then please call a TO to discuss. We will not force newer tournament players on clocks but you are welcome to use the clock on the table to monitor your time.
Code of Conduct
Above all else, our events are about having fun and enjoying the hobby. We expect all players to treat their opponents, the judges, and the venue with respect. Don't be “that guy”.
- If you have an issue with slow play, raise it with your opponent first.
- If a conflict cannot be resolved between players, call a judge — their ruling is final.
- Penalty points may be deducted if multiple games fail to reach a natural conclusion.
- Deliberate time-stalling may trigger additional penalties.
Penalties & Fouls
At the event any decision or ruling made by the TO or judge is final and penalties may be applied for breaking the rules. Late or missing list submissions will receive a yellow card and point penalties as set out in the Tournament Guidelines section.
Judges will explain infractions privately, with warnings issued for minor issues. Serious or repeat infractions will trigger a Yellow Card (0 points for the next round, automatic loss, and ineligibility for prizes).
Two Yellow Cards within 12 months results in a Red Card — removal from the event and a 12-month ban from Lords of Waaagh events, effective from the date of the second card.
Thank you for reading — we look forward to seeing you at the event!
